2008 - The Saab 9-3 Family IIHS Top Safety Pick

The Saab 9-3 Family. The only carline in its class to offer three models with IIHS top safety honors. The Saab 9-3 SportCombi was awarded the 2008 "Top Safety Pick" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. For the second year in a row, the Saab 9-3 Convertible was awarded the 2008 "Top Safety Pick" for open-top models by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan earned the IIHS' "Top Safety Pick Award" for 2008. This makes it one of the safest cars in its class four years in a row.
2007 - Saab 9-3 Convertible Earns IIHS Top Safety Pick Award
The Saab 9-3 Convertible has earned the 2007 Top Safety Pick award for open-top models in crash tests conducted by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. To qualify for 'Top Safety Pick' award, a maximum 'good' rating must be recorded in each of three demanding tests involving frontal and side impacts and an evaluation of seat/head restraint protection in a simulated rear-end impact. The vehicle must also offer electronic stability control and convertibles must be equipped with roll bars.

2006 - Three Years Running: Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan Earns IIHS 2007 Top Honors
The Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan has earned the 2007 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's Top Safety Pick Award in the midsize car category. This is the third consecutive year that Saab has driven away from this American competition with top honors.
2005 - "Top Pick" honor for Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan in new US safety report
The Saab 9-3 Sport Sedan is a Gold Award winner in the first-ever Top Safety Pick award by the U.S. based Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The 'Top Safety Pick - Gold Award' is a best-of-the-best distinction that recognizes car designs that provide the best occupant protection in front, side and rear crashes based on Institute testing.
2005 - Top safety ratings for Saab Active Head Restraints
All Saab 9-3 and 9-5 models achieved top marks for protection against neck injury by the Thatcham insurance research center in the U.K. All of those models feature Saab Active Head Restraints (SAHR) as standard.
